The photos below are all around Lawerencetown Beach

SURFING

Lawrencetown Beach is a world famous surfing beach attracting surfers from as far away as Hawaii & Australia to try out their skills on either the Left, Right or Reef break. Surfers who stay at Moonlight Beach Suites love the convenience of being able to surf right in their backyard in what is often referred to as “the Coolest Surf on the Eastern Seaboard” without any lineups and then hop into the Hot Tub to warm up and relax the muscles! There is a very welcoming surf community here—from the old timers who discovered this hidden jewel in the ‘70s to the newcomers that have added a younger vitality to the area. Several local surf schools offer lessons, surfboards, standup paddle boards & wetsuit rentals and lessons. You can even have your rented equipment delivered & picked up here at Moonlight Beach Suites!

KITE-BOARDING

There is a local code of ethics which was naturally established here. Surfers get the main beach and kite-boarders use what is locally known as “Stoney Beach” which is located at the mouth of Lawrencetown River. Bring your gear and join in the fun or just watch the colourful display of kite boarders having a blast!

BOOGEY - BOARDING
If you haven’t quite mastered surfing, why not try boogey boarding! Complimentary boards are here for you to use and the owner, Jane, will be happy to give you tips!

FISHING
In Nova Scotia, you can do recreational saltwater fishing from shore (don't forget your tackle) or you can go out on a charter boat and the Captain will supply the gear & license. Freshwater fishing does require a license and there are 2 nearby lakes within walking distance from Moonlight Beach Suites, where you can try your luck for trout, sea bass, catfish, pollock (Lawrencetown Lake & Porter’s Lake).

CLAM-DIGGING
When the tide is very low, you can go clam digging at the edge of Lawrencetown Lake/River. We will give you the shovel & bucket, tell you how to do it and point you in the right direction...we will even help you cook & eat them!

BEACH ACTIVITIES
If you would rather try something a little less active - how about building a sandcastle, flying a kite, beach combing, looking for starfish. Maybe something even less energetic - just relaxing on a beach chair (provided) soaking up the sun, watching the waves, reading a good book.

BIRD & WILDLIFE WATCHING
Keep a careful lookout in the ocean for whales, Harbour porpoises, Atlantic bottle-nose dolphins, several different varieties of ducks, and of course, Bob, our friendly, curious local seal!
Overhead, you may see osprey, eagles, golden peregrine falcons, hawks, great blue herons, sandpipers, red-winged blackbirds, blue jays, goldfinches. If you want a closer look, visit Hope for Wildlife (5 minutes away) the famous wildlife rescue centre from TV fame!
